Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions?

Everything you need to know about eligibility, documents, transfers and taxation.

Who is eligible to invest in unlisted shares through KP Unlisted?+

Any Indian resident aged 18+ with a valid PAN, Aadhaar and an active Demat account (CDSL or NSDL) can invest. NRIs are accepted on a case-by-case basis with an NRO demat account. Minimum ticket size typically starts at ₹50,000 and varies per company.

What documents do I need to submit?+

PAN Card, Client Master Report (CMR) from your broker, a cancelled cheque or bank passbook front page, Aadhaar for KYC, and your registered email & mobile number.

How long does the share transfer take?+

Once payment is confirmed, shares are transferred from our demat to yours within 24 working hours via off-market transfer through CDSL or NSDL.

How will the shares appear in my Demat account?+

You'll receive an SMS and email confirmation from your depository (CDSL/NSDL), and the holdings will reflect in your broker app such as Zerodha, Groww, Angel One, ICICI Direct or any other DP.

Can I use any broker's demat account?+

Yes — any SEBI-registered DP works. We just need your CMR copy to verify your demat details before transfer.

Is there a lock-in period after the company gets listed?+

Yes. As per SEBI rules, a 6-month lock-in applies on unlisted shares from the date of IPO listing.

How is the price of unlisted shares decided?+

Prices are based on latest secondary-market deals, company fundamentals, recent funding rounds, and demand-supply. The live quote is shared before payment — no hidden charges.

What about tax on unlisted shares?+

Holding period above 24 months qualifies as Long Term Capital Gain (20% with indexation). Below 24 months is Short Term, taxed at your slab rate. Please consult your CA for personal advice.
